STK400 Scaffolding Tube Supplier

Order STK400 tube against the agreed JIS product requirements and the project's approved scaffold component schedule. Confirm actual OD, wall, length, manufacturing condition and coating before reviewing coupler compatibility.

Review specification decisions

STK400 identifies a material-grade decision, not a platform load or automatic equivalence to S235, S355 or ASTM Grade B.

What the grade decision leaves open

  • Agreed JIS editionThe edition the order is placed against, stated with the grade.
  • Actual sectionOD, wall and length, each with the basis that governs acceptance.
  • Manufacturing conditionHow the tube was made and the condition it is delivered in.
  • Coating routeThe route the tube gets, and the standard governing it.
  • Material evidenceLot and heat records for the section actually supplied.
  • Component acceptanceThe exact coupler, accepted for the delivered tube condition.
  • Comparison for any alternativeA documented comparison where another grade is proposed.

Selection logic

Decide whether this is the right scaffolding tube route

Three substitutions decide whether an STK400 requirement fits as written. Each turns on the same question: is the purchase basis fixed, or is a name standing in for it?

Decide whether this is the right scaffolding tube route
DecisionWhy it matters hereBefore you enquire
JIS grade requiredThe selected grade needs a controlled edition and a stated product scope, because the requirements move with the revision of the standard.Provide the exact purchase basis — the grade and the edition together.
Different OD offeredNominal conventions may not match the existing interface. A label that reads the same can describe a different delivered diameter.Check the actual dimensions and the coupler maker's instructions.
Equivalent proposedDifferent naming systems are not interchangeable by name. Each standard carries its own scope, properties, tolerances and delivery conditions.Require a documented comparison and the design authority's approval.
Illustration: preserve the exact designation across records. The two cards carry abstract marks rather than text, because this page reproduces no marking and invents no designation — the dashed link shows only that the records have to agree.

What a reviewable enquiry carries

The set the commercial department needs before an offer can be reviewed against a stated purchase basis. A missing item is a question returned, not a default applied.

  • The grade designation and the agreed edition of the governing JIS standard, stated together.
  • The actual outside diameter, wall and length, each with the tolerance basis that governs acceptance.
  • The manufacturing condition and the condition the tube is delivered in.
  • The coating route the tube will get, with the standard governing that route.
  • The lot and heat records for the section actually supplied, traceable to the delivered item.
  • The exact coupler make and model, accepted for the delivered tube condition.
  • Where an alternative grade is proposed, the documented comparison and the written approval of it.

Capture the decisions below, prepare a review summary and copy it into the scaffolding-pipes RFQ. This builder runs locally in your browser: it sends nothing and no contact details are collected here.

Fields marked * are required. Use mm for outside diameter, wall thickness and dimensional tolerances, m for length, and an explicit quantity unit. Enter positive quantities and lengths; piece counts must be whole numbers. If a design detail is unresolved, describe the decision needed rather than guessing a grade.

Complete the specification to prepare a review summary.

STK400 identifies a material-grade decision, not a platform load or automatic equivalence to S235, S355 or ASTM Grade B. No tensile value, yield value, elongation, chemistry limit or tolerance figure is published on this page: those come from the edition the project has adopted and have to be evidenced against the section actually supplied.

Material and acceptance

What actually evidences an STK400 tube

Four things decide whether a delivered tube is accepted. Each has its own owner, and none of them is settled by the grade name on the drawing.

Illustration: an outside-diameter measurement beside a nominal-size comparison card. The callipers carry no readout and the comparison card holds an abstract mark, because this page publishes no dimension — the drawing shows only that a nominal label and an actual measurement are different things.

Grade evidence

The actual lot and heat records under the agreed JIS basis, checked against the edition the order named.

Timing: Before material acceptance; feasibility and cost are confirmed at quotation, not asserted here.

Review the complete material identity and the tests that go with it.

Geometry

The dimension schedule and the measurement evidence for the section being supplied.

Timing: Before material acceptance; a dimension without its tolerance basis cannot be checked.

Confirm the tolerances and the receiving interface rather than the label.

Scaffold approval

The approved component specification and the design reference the arrangement rests on.

Timing: Before material acceptance; the design approval is the design authority's to give.

Resolve the coupler make and model, and the permitted tube condition.

Heat and item identity

Applicable mill records linked to the heat or batch markings and reconciled against the packing list.

Timing: Before release and again on receipt. A sample certificate is not evidence for the shipped heat.

Request traceability through cutting, bundling and delivery.

Applications

Application questions that change the enquiry

  • Which design reference governs the arrangement, and who released it?
  • What exposure and coating route does the site actually present?
  • Which coupler make and model is accepted, and for which tube condition?
  • Who reconciles the mill records against the delivered heat markings?
  • Which delivery point and transport leg is the supplier responsible for?

Answering these before the enquiry is raised is what lets the commercial department respond against a stated purchase basis rather than a default.

Why this route

Make acceptance easier to demonstrate

Each item below is a way a scaffolding-tube enquiry loses time. The lower line is what the same enquiry looks like when the item is closed.

Common failure

A grade name offered as its own evidence

The grade and the agreed edition are captured together, and the lot records are tied to the section supplied, so the material is evidenced rather than named.

Instead: Material evidence that answers the order it was placed against.

Common failure

A nominal label read as the delivered dimension

The actual section is captured, and the nominal comparison is held apart from it, so the interface is checked against what arrives.

Instead: An interface confirmed before the material is ordered.

Common failure

Equivalence assumed between naming systems

Any proposed alternative has to arrive with a documented comparison and a written approval, rather than being assigned equivalence by name.

Instead: A substitution that is approved, or not made at all.

Common failure

A structural-tube grade read as scaffold approval

Material evidence and assembly acceptance are kept as separate tracks with separate owners.

Instead: Two acceptances, each answering its own question.

Common failure

Marking and translation drifting apart

The original marking identity and the translated purchase identity are reconciled against the delivered lot.

Instead: Records that describe the same tube the same way.

Responsibility

Close each decision before releasing the order

Four stages decide whether an STK400 tube is accepted. Each has an owner, an input and an output, and each carries the same instruction: close it before the next stage rests on it.

Stage 1

Engineering release

Buyer's design authority

Required input

The design authority releases the grade and the component schedule for the arrangement being built.

Evidence or output

An approved specification and drawing revision carried forward onto the order.

Risk and next action

An unapproved substitution changes the design basis. Close this item before proceeding.

Stage 2

Offer review

Buyer and quotation team

Required input

The buyer resolves the JIS edition and any alternative-offer exception against the approved requirement.

Evidence or output

Written technical exceptions, sitting inside the commercial scope.

Risk and next action

An unlisted exception survives into the purchase order. Close this item before proceeding.

Stage 3

Material release

Mill, inspector and buyer as agreed

Required input

The reviewer reconciles the lot evidence and the actual dimensions with the items being released.

Evidence or output

Accepted documents linked to the specific order items.

Risk and next action

Missing heat identity makes an otherwise correct tube unacceptable. Close this item before proceeding.

Stage 4

Receipt and reconciliation

Receiving team

Required input

The receiver checks the markings, the geometry and the delivered condition before accepted use.

Evidence or output

A delivery record, the item count, and a discrepancy record if anything does not reconcile.

Risk and next action

A mismatch found after the material is worked into the arrangement. Record it before incorporation.

Questions

Questions before you place the scaffolding tube order

Six questions that decide whether an STK400 requirement is answerable as written.

Is STK400 automatically equivalent to S235?

No. Compare the full applicable requirements and obtain approval. STK400 belongs to a Japanese industrial standard and S235 to a European one, and each carries its own product scope, property requirements, tolerances and delivery conditions. A shared strength figure is not evidence that the two are interchangeable, and no equivalence is asserted on this page. Where a substitution is wanted, it is a documented comparison approved by the responsible design authority.

Does the number establish allowable scaffold load?

No. Use the approved complete design and configuration basis. The designation identifies a material-grade decision for the tube. The load a scaffold can carry follows from the complete arrangement — its geometry, couplers, bracing, ties, foundations and the route by which the load reaches the ground — and that is established by the design authority, not by the grade name.

Can nominal diameter labels be compared directly?

Check actual OD, tolerances and the exact coupler's permitted interface. Nominal conventions differ between standards and between markets, so a label that reads the same on two offers may describe tubes that present different delivered diameters. What the coupler accepts is the delivered diameter and condition against a stated tolerance basis, so that is what has to be compared.

Is a property table reproduced here?

No. Use the agreed licensed standard and the actual material evidence. This page publishes no tensile value, yield value, elongation, chemistry limit or tolerance figure, because those come from the edition the project has adopted and have to be evidenced against the section actually supplied. The public scope establishes what the standard covers; it is not a substitute for the licensed document.

Why does the JIS edition have to be agreed?

Because a standard is revised, and the requirements move with the revision. A purchase basis that names the standard without the edition does not identify the document the tube will be made and tested to, so a supplier cannot tell which set of requirements the order is being placed against. Naming the grade and the edition together is what makes the enquiry answerable.

What has to accompany a translated purchase identity?

The original marking identity, kept consistent with whatever translation the order uses. Where a marking is read off in one system and written onto a purchase schedule in another, the two records have to reconcile against the delivered lot — otherwise the mill record, the packing list and the physical tag describe the same tube in three different ways and none of them can be checked.

Still need the basis confirmed?

Prepare the specification so the commercial department can respond against what you have stated, rather than answering a grade name on its own.
