Send area codes and approved drawing revisions.
Applications · Power Generation
Send the power-plant area, member schedule and approved structural specification together. Distinguish ordinary frames and access supports from members affected by equipment loads, heat, chemicals or special safety requirements before requesting a grade-and-section offer.
Structural support steel is separate from pressure-retaining equipment, boiler materials and process piping. A plant application label does not establish one grade or coating for every area.
Duty split
Three states decide how a plant-steel item is handled. Each one names the decision, why it matters here and the field to settle before an enquiry is worth sending.

Before you enquire
Use its applicable equipment or pressure-material specification.
| Decision | Why it matters here | Before you enquire |
|---|---|---|
| Fit | A released structural schedule defines grade, geometry and service. | Send area codes and approved drawing revisions. |
| Verify first | Equipment vibration, heat or chemical exposure affects a member. | Obtain the vendor/design acceptance conditions. |
| Different material package | The item retains pressure or belongs to specialised equipment. | Use its applicable equipment or pressure-material specification. |

Select a beam form only after the approved frame and connection design is known.
Confirm channel orientation, connection geometry and actual duty rather than selecting by nominal depth alone.
Plant conditions
A single plant contains several environments. Identify each one before a grade or coating line is fixed.
Identify indoor, outdoor, wet, chemical and heat-affected locations separately. Obtain static and dynamic equipment reactions, support movements and connection details from the responsible designer or equipment vendor. State coating, fire-protection, access and inspection requirements, and whether a component has special safety classification.
Maintenance access and replacement strategy can affect joint detailing and delivery lotting; procurement needs the approved decisions rather than inferring them from a general power-plant description.
Conditions to resolve first
These are design inputs, not procurement assumptions. Where a condition is unresolved, describe the decision needed rather than selecting a grade on the plant’s behalf.
Enquiry builder
Organise the steel requirement by area and duty. The output records equipment and environmental review needs without calculating vibration or temperature capacity.
Complete the specification to prepare a review summary.
Prepared locally in your browser — no personal data is collected here and nothing is sent. The destination RFQ form owns contact collection, and a submission is complete only when that form returns a genuine acknowledgement.
Design/client review required: confirm structural duty, equipment interfaces and protection requirements. Pressure or specialised equipment items need their own specification and approval.
Ordering fields
Keep the civil/structural drawing, vendor interface and material schedule at the same approved revision.
| Specification decision | Applicability and limit | Evidence to request | RFQ action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frame and support duty | Ordinary framing and equipment supports can have different design inputs. | Approved member schedule and equipment-interface drawings. | State area code, member role and load/interface reference. |
| Material and service | The grade must fit the approved structural and service basis. | Material specification and project test requirements. | Name full grade, condition and any special service limits. |
| Protection zones | One site can contain different exposure and coating requirements. | Approved environmental/coating and fire-protection schedules. | Identify each item’s protection system and exclusions. |
| Inspection and lotting | Erection sequence and vendor interfaces influence release. | Inspection plan and phased delivery schedule. | Define document hold points and area-based lots. |
Document control
Ask inspection documents to retain plant area and item references. A correct grade in the wrong lot or with the wrong protection system can still obstruct installation.
| Control | What to examine | When and limits | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frame and support duty | Approved member schedule and equipment-interface drawings. | Before material acceptance; confirm feasibility and cost at quotation. | State area code, member role and load/interface reference. |
| Material and service | Material specification and project test requirements. | Before material acceptance; confirm feasibility and cost at quotation. | Name full grade, condition and any special service limits. |
| Protection zones | Approved environmental/coating and fire-protection schedules. | Before material acceptance; confirm feasibility and cost at quotation. | Identify each item’s protection system and exclusions. |
| Heat and item identity | Mill test certificate linked to heat markings and packing list. | Before release and again on receipt; a sample certificate is not evidence for the shipped heat. | Request traceability through cutting, bundling and delivery. |
Project packages
These routes help resolve surrounding procurement decisions while preserving the power-plant application’s specific interfaces.
Coordinate the wider programme, standards and release controls across energy assets.
Resolve building envelopes, cranes and structural connections separately from equipment supports.
Clarify utility, access and site-interface requirements that accompany the plant steel schedule.
GCC destination
Distinguish delivery to a fabricator from a site-area handover and identify the technical document approver. Country flags identify the destination; quotation must confirm the supply route, origin and availability for this order.
Applies to every destination: Carry plant area codes and protection-system references into the destination enquiry.
Identify the emirate, fabricator or site address and unloading restrictions; distinguish a domestic handover from an import leg.
Name the consignee, importer and final site; ask who confirms product classification and border documentation before dispatch.
State the nominated receiving point and project document approver; align certificate review with the required arrival window.
Specify the actual port, border point or inland site requested; separate the entry leg from onward transport and unloading.
Identify the contractor or fabrication yard receiving the sections; agree import-document responsibility and the named delivery place.
Confirm whether the order is for local consumption or onward shipment; name the consignee and agree who handles each transport leg.
Commercial
Request separate material, fabrication, coating, fire-protection and inspection scope. Include equipment-vendor release dependencies and the requested delivery sequence without treating an indicative construction programme as a confirmed shipment promise.
Name the area code, member role and full grade per item. A single plant-wide grade line hides the members whose duty differs.
Quote fabrication, coating and fire-protection scope separately so an unprotected section price is not compared with a finished item.
Map document hold points onto the area-based delivery sequence the erection programme actually needs.
Ask for the offered mill and origin, section schedule, quantity basis, processing scope, packing, commercial validity and exclusions. State the Incoterm with its named place and edition, who unloads, and the requested delivery window.
Price, availability, production allocation, transport feasibility and dates require written confirmation.
Coordinate an export enquiry — Align area-based item marks, preservation, transport lengths and receiving sequence before booking shipment.

Profiles
Use dimension and mass resources for order preparation, with the released design controlling capacity and interfaces.
Check the complete beam designation and interface geometry against the vendor-supported frame drawing.
Distinguish channel families and flange geometry in secondary support orders.
Use the specified EN grade and condition where the plant material schedule calls for them.
Expert insight
ISO 12944-2 classifies environments and their corrosivity as an input to protective-paint selection. A plant-wide name therefore cannot replace an item’s actual exposure description.
Buyer implication: Split the RFQ by approved exposure and protection zones instead of applying an unexamined single coating line.
Method: Read the standards publisher’s scope and translate environmental classification into an item-level enquiry field. Applicability: Protective-paint planning for structural steel; not equipment thermal or pressure-material acceptance. Limit: The public scope neither classifies the site nor selects a specific paint system or durability guarantee.

Comparison evidence
Each control names what to examine and the RFQ field it locks, so competing offers can be read against the same acceptance requirement.
Approved member schedule and equipment-interface drawings.
State area code, member role and load/interface reference. This makes competing offers easier to compare against the same acceptance requirement.
Material specification and project test requirements.
Name full grade, condition and any special service limits. This makes competing offers easier to compare against the same acceptance requirement.
Approved environmental/coating and fire-protection schedules.
Identify each item’s protection system and exclusions. This makes competing offers easier to compare against the same acceptance requirement.
Release stages
Each stage names its owner, the required input, the evidence it produces and the risk that stays open until it closes.
| Stage and owner | Required input | Evidence or output | Risk and next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engineering release — Buyer’s design authority | Approve area codes, equipment interfaces and structural/material drawings. | Approved specification and drawing revision | Unapproved substitution can change the design basis. Close the item before proceeding. |
| Offer review — Buyer and quotation team | Reconcile processing, protection and vendor-release exceptions. | Written technical exceptions and commercial scope | An unlisted exception can survive into the purchase order. Close the item before proceeding. |
| Material release — Mill, inspector and buyer as agreed | Check material, dimensional and protection records against each release lot. | Accepted documents linked to the order items | Missing heat identity can make an otherwise correct section unacceptable. Close the item before proceeding. |
| Receipt and reconciliation — Receiving team | Confirm item marks, area destination and protection condition at receipt. | Delivery record, item count and discrepancy record | Record any mismatch before the material is incorporated into work. Close the item before proceeding. |
FAQ
Short answers to the questions that decide whether a plant-steel enquiry is complete enough to quote.
This route addresses structural members. Pressure-retaining or specialised equipment materials need their own governing specifications.
Only where the approved design permits it. Equipment loads, temperature, vibration and exposure can change the requirement.
The responsible structural designer using the approved loads and equipment interfaces; the enquiry builder does not size members.
Only if the approved schedule truly uses one system. Keep area-specific exposure, preparation and protection requirements visible.
Give area codes, required lots, document release dates and named receiving points for quotation review.
Resolve the revision and affected items before material processing or release; identify any resulting commercial and schedule changes.
Next step
Send the member schedule, vendor interfaces, full grades, protection zones and inspection lots. Ask for a clear scope and exceptions response.
Prepare and copy the summary above, then open the structural-steel RFQ and paste it into Product Requirement. Add your name, company and reply email on that form. Supporting drawings can be shared through the destination’s verified contact process.
This page prepares your enquiry locally. Opening the RFQ does not submit it. A submission is complete only when the receiving form returns a genuine acknowledgement.
