Hydraulic Steel Tube

Hydraulic Steel Tube Supplier

Start a hydraulic tube enquiry by identifying whether the item carries fluid between components or forms a cylinder barrel. For lines, send the pressure and temperature envelope, fluid and fitting system. For barrels, add the final bore drawing and seal interface. The two duties need different acceptance evidence.

Hydraulic service is an application requirement, not a standalone grade or universal pressure rating. A generic precision, DOM or seamless label does not approve a completed hydraulic system.

Selection logic

Decide whether this is the right tube route

The first question is not which tube to buy — it is which duty the tube performs. A line transfers fluid between components; a barrel is the working surface a seal runs against. They are accepted on different evidence.

Hydraulic steel tube specification — enquiry builder

Capture the decisions below, prepare a review summary and copy it to the tube RFQ. For line duty, have the system designer approve tube, fittings, pressure/temperature limits and assembly method together. For barrel duty, obtain the finished-bore and cylinder-design acceptance separately.

Hydraulic steel tube specification

Fields marked * are required. Use mm for OD, ID and wall dimensions and tolerances, m for length, and an explicit quantity unit. Enter positive quantities and lengths; piece counts must be whole numbers. If a design detail is unresolved, describe the decision needed rather than guessing a grade.

Complete the specification to prepare a review summary.

Acceptance basis

Put the acceptance basis on the order

Each row names the decision, what limits it, the evidence that verifies it and the action it becomes on the enquiry. No pressure rating, tolerance value or cleanliness figure is published here.

Specification decisionApplicability and limitEvidence to requestRFQ action
Product specificationChoose a standard appropriate to line or barrel duty, not a hydraulic nickname.Controlling standard, grade and delivery condition.Name the duty and standard edition.
Fitting compatibilityOD, wall, hardness and surface must meet the chosen fitting requirements.Fitting manufacturer’s applicable tube data and assembly instructions.Record fitting system and approved tubing envelope.
Cleanliness and end protectionOil, particles and moisture can affect system commissioning.Agreed cleaning criteria and sealed-end packing plan.State cleanliness test, packing and preservation period.
Pressure designMaterial compliance is one input to assembly design.Designer-approved pressure/temperature and fatigue basis.Provide design limits and test responsibility.

Pressure warning. Tube material compliance is one input to an assembly design, not a statement of allowable working pressure. No pressure rating is published on this page, because a rating follows from the material, dimensions, tolerances, temperature, connection type and the governing design method — and must be approved by the responsible engineer for the specific circuit or cylinder.

Quality & documentation

Documents that support a hydraulic steel tube order

Ask which evidence belongs to the mill tube, which to cleaning or finishing, and which to the assembled hydraulic system. Keep the inspection boundaries visible so a mill certificate is not mistaken for a system test.

Cleanliness is an order line

Oil, particles and moisture affect commissioning. State the cleaning criteria, how they are verified, and whether re-cleaning after cutting is inside the scope.

Fittings decide the tube envelope

A fitting system constrains OD, wall, hardness and surface. Send the fitting manufacturer’s tube data with the enquiry rather than selecting by pressure and diameter alone.

Keep the boundaries visible

A mill certificate describes tube material. It is not a cleanliness record and not a system pressure test. Ask for each one separately and say who owns it.

Applications

Follow the operating duty to the right specification

The drawing and service envelope govern acceptance. These paths address different purchasing decisions; an application label does not approve a material.

Commercial comparison

Compare offers on the same delivered scope

Separate mill tube, cleaning, final bore finishing, test work and caps on the offer. A low tube price may exclude the preparation your assembly needs.

Ask how cleanliness is preserved during cutting and transport; the preservation work is part of what you are buying, and it is frequently left out of a bare tube quote.

Ask for the offered mill and origin, tube schedule, quantity basis, processing scope, packing, commercial validity and exclusions. State the Incoterm with its named place and edition, who unloads, and the requested delivery window. Price, availability, production allocation, transport feasibility and dates require written confirmation.

Pricing. Hydraulic tube is quoted against the ordered scope — duty, dimensions, cleaning, finishing and documents. Price on request.

Expert insight

Can a tube certificate establish fitting compatibility?

Swagelok’s tube-selection guidance considers tubing dimensions, condition and hardness alongside its fittings. Certificate review alone cannot establish a compatible assembled connection.

Buyer implication: Attach the chosen fitting requirements to the RFQ rather than ordering by pressure and diameter alone.

Method
Read the manufacturer’s tube-selection guidance; apply it as a bounded interface-review method.
Applicability
Selection of tubing for the named manufacturer’s fittings.
Limit
No pressure table is reproduced; other fitting systems need their own manufacturer’s approval.

Procurement FAQs

Questions before you place the tube order

Six questions from the buyer’s side of the desk, covering the line/barrel split, pressure, the EN 10305 family and cleanliness scope.

Are hydraulic line tubes interchangeable with cylinder tubes?

Treat them as separate duties. A cylinder needs a defined finished bore and seal interface; a line needs compatibility with its fittings and pressure design.

Will seamless tube guarantee the pressure rating?

No. Rating depends on material, dimensions, tolerances, temperature, connections and the governing design method. Obtain system-design approval.

Which EN 10305 part should be ordered?

Select the part that matches the manufacturing route and hydraulic duty. Have the engineer state the part, grade, condition and edition; do not infer them from this page.

How should cleanliness be specified?

State the agreed contaminant limits or cleaning procedure, verification method and end-sealing requirements. Confirm whether re-cleaning after cutting is included.

Can the supplier select my fittings?

Provide the approved fitting system and its tube requirements. Any design selection or substitution requires review by the responsible engineer.

What remains quotation-dependent?

Offered mill, sizes, finishing and cleaning capability, documents, testing, packing, price and delivery timing require written confirmation.

Enquiry handoff

Turn this requirement into a reviewable enquiry

For line duty, have the system designer approve tube, fittings, pressure/temperature limits and assembly method together. For barrel duty, obtain the finished-bore and cylinder-design acceptance separately. Include the completed fields and the controlling drawing revision so exceptions can be returned against the right requirement.

Prepare and copy the summary above, then open the steel-tubes RFQ and paste it into the requirement field. Add your name, company and reply email on that form. Supporting drawings can be shared through the destination’s verified contact process.

This page prepares your enquiry locally. Opening the RFQ does not submit it. A submission is complete only when the receiving form returns a genuine acknowledgement.
