Going from 12 mm to 16 mm nearly doubles the tonnage
Because area (and therefore mass) rises with the square of diameter, a small schedule change compounds across a whole project. Reconcile diameter and nominal mass against the reinforcing schedule before ordering — it is the single biggest lever on delivered tonnage and cost.
